about

June 30, National Day of Boi-Bumbá, Intangible Cultural Heritage of Brazil.

The most common story behind the Boi-Bumbá legend refers to a couple of slaves working on a farm. The pregnant woman, having expressed her deep desire to eat beef tongue, pushed her husband to kill one of the finest oxen on the farm, and incidentally the master's favorite, to satisfy her craving. The master, discovering what had happened, sent natives to capture the slave, and with the help of the "pajé", the indigenous healer, resurrected the ox. Then the slave was forgiven and the whole farm community celebrated in communion the resurrection of the ox.

This project is an ode to the Boi-Bumbá festival, one of the main popular events celebrated in Brazil. Its history mentions, among other things, the indigenous people from whom I hold my origins, and illustrating this release with a visual making reference to these two aspects was crucial to me. The project is highlighted by the inspiring vocal of the Brazilian artist Aleuda, because there could not be a more perfect and appropriate gem for the occasion.

So, how do you choose to celebrate the Boi ? Sambadelic Tech mix or Tropicadelic House mix?
